Launch: Bcc Archiving for Small Business Customers

Posted by Pat on 02/15/2007 | Permalink | TrackBack (0)

Small business customers (those that sign-up online) can now purchase Bcc Archiving in the control panel. Bcc Archiving allows email administrators to archive all incoming and outgoing emails for specific domains and email accounts by routing all messages to a specified email account. Small business customers can purchase Bcc Archiving in the Upgrade section of the control panel. Bcc Archiving costs $1 per archived email account, per month.

Resellers and larger customers can purchase Bcc Archiving but must contact us in order to do so.

We are starting to see more of a demand for different forms of Email Archiving; this is our first foray into that market.

Blackberry Issues - Update

Posted by Jon on 02/14/2007 | Permalink | TrackBack (0)

To follow up on the previous post regarding email forwarding to Blackberry devices, we have today implemented a workaround whereby mail forwarded to Blackberry accounts is now routed through an alternate set of servers, rather than our usual forwarding system. The forwarding issues should now be resolved.

Thanks for your patience, and we again apologize for the inconvenience that this has caused. We are continuing our investigation of this issue and will be working with RIM to determine why it arose in the first place and what can be done to prevent it in the future.

Blackberry Issues

Posted by Jon on 02/13/2007 | Permalink | TrackBack (0)

For the past 24 hours we have been experiencing problems with Blackberry and the ability for our users to forward email to their Blackberry devices. Blackberry is throttling these emails, which is causing delays in email delivery times to Blackberry devices. We are working on trying to resolve this problem but so far, Blackberry has not been very cooperative. We will continue to work on contacting the right people at Blackberry and we will do everything we can to restore the ability to forward emails to Blackberry devices as soon as we can. We very much apologize for any inconvenience this has caused.

Keep in mind that this issue is only affecting the ability to forward email from user accounts to Blackberry devices, and you can still setup your mobile device to interact with our system via POP/IMAP connection through your service provider.

Most Blackberry carriers provide access to a website through which you can create an external POP or IMAP account. Simply set the incoming mail server to pop.emailsrvr.com for POP or imap.emailsrvr.com for IMAP. The username will be your full email address, in all lower-case letters, and the password will be your regular email account password. There is also a link to Blackberry's setup guide on our website and, as always, our Customer Care team is available 24x7 should you have any further questions regarding this.

New Anti-spam API - time to start coding!

Many of you use the new anti-spam features we released back in August that allow you to add IP addresses to your blacklists and safelists and turn on greylisting for mail from new senders. Well now we have another way you can manage these features.

This week we released a set of new API functions that let you write your own programs to control these settings for your users. You can build all sorts of clever things with this. For example, if you are an ISP or a web host, you can write a tool that syncs your IP space with your customers' whitelists so that your IPs are always whitelisted. Or if you run honeypots or spamtraps, you can write a program that automatically blacklists IPs that send malicious traffic there.

If you build any cool applications using these API functions, I would love to hear about it.

Beta Launch: Webmail 6.2 Featuring New Contacts Section

Posted by Pat on 02/01/2007 | Permalink | TrackBack (0)

We just released Webmail 6.2 into beta. Webmail 6.2 has an all-new Contacts section, much faster login times, and a lot of other performance enhancements.

I’m especially excited about Contacts. This is the one area of webmail that hasn’t received any love in a long time. But now that we’ve caught it up to the rest of the application, expect to see many new features added in the coming months, especially with regards to sharing and collaboration.

If you want to check out Webmail 6.2, you can log into our beta site and play around. If you find any bugs please let us know by using the feedback link in the upper right corner of webmail.

We plan to release Webmail 6.2 to all customers in a few weeks.

PS... yes, we did just launch 6.0 less than one month ago. I told you, we're moving fast. ;-)
