As the VP of Engineering, you hold a key leadership position within the Mailtrust organization which requires strong leadership skills and a strong technical background. You and your team are directly responsible for the technical operations of the Mailtrust email system, which includes Hosted Exchange, Noteworthy, and custom hosted mail solutions. You are responsible for mentoring and overseeing decisions made by your engineering leadership team and instituting well-defined communication and operational processes for your teams to follow day-to-day, and during crisis situations, to achieve stellar uptime and performance. You possess that rare mix of technical and business intelligence, superb communication skills, diplomacy and team building skills that rapidly earn you the trust of technically-savvy teams across the company. You use your versatile communication style to speak effectively with individuals ranging from entry-level IT staff to senior leadership both internally and at customer companies.

- You are responsible for growing our engineering teams in San Antonio, TX and Blacksburg, VA, as well as creating new teams in future offices
- You have the proven ability to hire, coach and develop distributed teams of managers and technical staff
Important skills and characteristics:
- 5-10+ years of management experience of technical professionals in related areas
- 5+ years of relevant hands-on technical experience, and a record of individual achievement
- Great leadership and follow-up skills, customer service skills, and a positive attitude
- Versatile written and verbal skills
- Attention to detail and ability to master broad system interdependencies
- Extensive knowledge of Windows and Linux/Unix operating systems
- Understanding of coding principles and concepts
- Familiarity with common web technologies
- Deep understanding of methods to achieve high availability
- DNS and Networking fundamentals
- Strong vendor management skills
- Skilled in leading projects, especially in deploying and maintaining live end-user systems
