Bill Boebel and I started Mailtrust in 1999, when we left Virginia Tech to pursue our entrepreneurial dreams. We've been through a lot since our founding, including surviving the dot-com implosion, bootstrapping our way to becoming the 217th fastest growing company in America (Inc. Magazine, Sept 2006), being recognized as one of the best places to work in our region, and finding a partner in Rackspace, who acquired our business in 2007.

When I reflect back on our evolution, it's easy for me to see why we've been so successful. I believe it's all about the quality of our people, our genuine commitment to serving our customers, and our relentless and disciplined focus on business-class email.

During the first phase of our company growth, we were independently owned and we operated exclusively out of Blacksburg, Virginia. We built our company with very little outside funding and lots of really hard work. We slowly built up our customer base and aligned ourselves with strong partners. One of those partners was a company called Rackspace. They became one of our biggest resellers and we housed our email system in their data centers. As the partnership developed, I realized we shared many of the same values, business philosophies and, most importantly, commitment to customers. In many ways, they were a big part of our success during this phase of our company's history.

On October 1, 2007, we began phase two by merging with Rackspace. There is no other company that I would rather be a part of and I couldn't be more excited about what this means for our future. Together, we are committed to building the world's most trusted provider of business email hosting.
